About
… me:
My name is Henner. I’m a 26 years IT specialist for systems administrations and part-time freelance IT consultant living in Kiel, the capital of Schleswig-Holstein, Germanys most northern state.
… this website:
I’m using this blog-based website to publish some of my works. Mostly guides and scripts for various administrative tasks concerning Windows and/or Linux BSD systems.
… skaven:
My nickname “skaven” is a choice of myself. Some time ago i worked in a book shop for fantasy and science-fiction literature, where I discovered the fictional race of the Skaven from the Warhammer universe. I just liked the sound of the name, both in english and german spelling.
… the doomclaw:
Since I’m using skaven as my nickname I choosed doomclaw.de for my domain. This is derived from Kratch Doomclaw, which is the name of the Rictus clan’s member in the Skaven’s Council of Thirteen in the fictional universe of Warhammer.
… the daemons:
At the eastern coast of asia on the historical Lenox Globe is a phrase “HC SVNT DRACONES” (Here be dragons) in imitation to the sea-serpents used in medieval maps, which were used to denote unexplored or dangerous territories. And on the map of the MMORPG RuneScape is a phrase “Here be penguins” denoting the northern sea.
I originally used this phrase to denote two things equally. First of all the focus on Linux (and OpenSource genarally) in this blog and second the desire for exploring the unexplored. After some time I turned away from Linux systems, due to better experiences with BSD systems. So the phrase was changed to the current “here be daemons”.
